THREE DAYS IN… SAINT-TROPEZ
NO YACHT? NO WORRIES, YOU CAN STILL DISCOVER THE BEST OF THE FAMOUS FRENCH RIVIERA TOWN IN JUST 72 HOURS
Your guide to the perfect long weekend in the French Riviera
DAY1
Check in to Hôtel Byblos, still as iconic as when Mick and Bianca Jagger had their wedding party here in 1971. Grab a bite at poolside restaurant Le B before heading out. If it’s Tuesday or Saturday, pop to the Place des Lices market for linen shirts, before dropping by Maison Mer on Rue Gambetta for chic wicker baskets and elegant interiors.
DON’T MISS Rondini
For perfect gladiator sandals, most people head to K. Jacques on Rue Henri Seillon. But down the road on Rue Georges Clemenceau, you’ll find local favourite Rondini – its exquisite leather sliders are loved by the fashion pack.
DAY2
Saint-Tropez was made for walking, so once you’ve booked a table for lunch at Byblos Beach Ramatuelle, dedicate your morning to the 15km hike along the sentier du littoral (coastal path), from which you’ll spot traditional nudist beaches, quiet emerald coves and oligarchs’ mansions. Once you reach the restaurant, try their version of the famous tarte tropézienne (and compare with the original from the eponymous Traverse des Lices bakery).
THE HOT TICKET Chez Jean Robert
Reserve a table for dinner at Chez Jean Robert – the sparkliest new addition to Saint-Tropez’s culinary scene. A word of advice: ask for a spot on the verandah, but furthest away from the overfamiliar buskers.
DAY3
To see the real jewels of the surrounding area, hire a car. A 25-minute drive into the hills takes you to Auberge de la Môle, a classic Côte d’Azur lunch spot, loved by low-key celebrities, which has been delivering France’s biggest portions for years. About 45 minutes to the west, you’ll find one of the country’s most perfect beaches, Plage de l’Estagnol, where you may spot President Macron – his summer house overlooks it.
THE PARTING SHOT Cap Taillat
Take a kayak out to Cap Taillat, a secluded wild beach in Ramatuelle that is only accessible by foot or boat: the perfect ending to a Saint-Tropezian long weekend.
