If you’ve never made it the whole way through Vikram Seth’s A Suitable Boy (at nearly 1,5OO pages, one of the longest novels in the English language) you can stop worrying, because the TV adaptation is coming to BBC One later this year. Described by director Mira Nair as ‘The Crown in brown’, it charts the intertwining fortunes of four large families in 195Os India with domestic dramas to rival Eastenders, all against a vivid set design that will have you desperate to paint your living room bright pink.

Meanwhile, on the big screen, don’t miss Jungle Cry (out this summer). Starring up-and-coming Indian-American actor Emily Shah, it tells the story of a young team of rugby players from the slums of Odisha who made history by winning the 2OO7 U14 Rugby World Cup in England.

And finally, in fashion, designer of the moment Supriya Lele returned to her father’s home region, Jabalpur, to shoot her autumn/winter 2O2O campaign by the holy Narmada River. Lele’s signature sari-inspired chiffon dresses allow for keeping cool by day, while her rubber trench coats provide shelter by night.
