IKEA to enter Oman following September launch in Bahrain

Prolific Swedish retailer IKEA is continuing its expansion in the Middle East after it announced plans to expand into Oman.

Having already opened up business in Bahrain in September, IKEA wants to enter several new markets in the next few years and reach three billion potential customers by 2025.

CEO Torbjorn Loof said in a statement: “We will offer new and different ways to shop the Ikea product range - online, in remote locations and in city centres. We will introduce smaller store formats and offer a wide range of flexible and affordable services.”

Mexico, Estonia, Ukraine, Puerto Rico, Luxembourg, Macau and the Philippine­s are among the other new markets being targeted by IKEA.
