Deutsche Bahn eyes sale of Arriva subsidiary
Germany’s state-owned rail operator Deutsche Bahn is considering the sale of its Arriva international subsidiary.
There are thought to be differing opinions within both company leadership and political circles as to how to plug a multibillion-dollar financial gap, with the sale of Arriva said to be among the options.
Deutsche Bahn has been under intense scrutiny recently following a troubling period of failing punctuality.
It is thought that, if sold, UK- headquartered Arriva could raise around $4.5 billion. However, value estimates are currently difficult to produce due to ongoing uncertainty over Britain’s departure from the European Union.
