hadi HAJAIG’S Blue Iguana, a tale of two ex-cons (sam Rockwell and Ben schwartz) trying to retrieve a stolen gemstone, throws back to more things than an in-form NBA player. Chiefly, the slew of convoluted crime flicks that came in the wake of Reservoir Dogs, but also ’80s video-shop fodder such as Something Wild and Miami Blues. But while you can applaud the taste in reference points, it’s hard to admire the mish-mash of incomprehensible plotting, tired stylistic tics, poorly handled tone and tiresome violence all delivered with second-hand cool. it grates on pretty much every level, and contains one of the worst shootouts in recent memory.
