The best of British crime drama

BAPTISTE (BBC1, EARLY 2019)

Set in Amsterdam, this new thriller is a spin-off from The Missing starring Tchéky Karyo as stubborn investigator Julien Baptiste. When Julien and his wife are on a sightseeing visit there, the Chief Of Police – who also happens to be an ex-girlfriend – asks for help on a case, leading Baptiste into the dangerous underbelly of the Dutch city.

LINE OF DUTY (BBC1, MID 2019)

The BBC are keeping their lips firmly sealed about what’s going on in Jed Mercurio’s brilliant police drama. What we do know is that the mighty Stephen Graham (This Is England, Boardwalk Empire) has a starring role in Series 5, We can’t wait to see Kate (Vicky Mcclure) and Steve (Martin Compston) return to fight corrupt coppers.

LUTHER (BBC1, EARLY 2019)

Idris Elba strides back on to London’s crime-ridden streets (still wearing that coat, we see) for the fith season and tries to solve a string of monstrous murders. He’s joined by a new sidekick, DS Catherine Halliday, played by Wunmi Mosaku, who wona BAFTA for her performance in Damilola: Our Loved Boy last year. Meanwhile there are more than a few skeletons about to pop out of Luther’s closet…
