SQUAD GOALS
OUR WISHLIST FOR JAMES GUNN’S TAKE ON SUICIDE SQUAD
1. New team members
A lot of characters have passed through Task Force X’s ranks down the years — so it would be an ideal time for Gunn to bring in some fresh blood. (Warner Bros. have confirmed it will be a “fresh new take”.) A notable character from the original comics line-up is Bronze Tiger, a complex antihero who, in Gunn’s hands, could bring new depth to the team.
2. Mix with the wider universe
It’s long been a feature of the Suicide Squad’s history that their grey morals often run up against those of more traditional heroes. The first film already gave us a glimpse of this with its Bruce Wayne confrontation, but we’d like to see the squad brought more into the existing DCEU as a direct challenge for the Justice League.
3. A killer soundtrack
We’ll never get to hear what Gunn’s ‘Awesome Mix, Vol. 3’ would have sounded like, now — but this could be the perfect place to hear another killer compilation, built around more of a coherent theme than the first Suicide Squad’s eclectic soundtrack was.
