DIEGO MARADONA
Ah, the genius footballer who scored the Hand Of God goal. Luckily, we had God in our Fantasy Football team and got the points for the assist.
Director Carl Hunter
CAST Bill Nighy, Alice Lowe, Jenny Agutter, Sam Riley
FOLLOWING ALAN (Nighy), an easygoing tailor struggling to reconnect with his family, Carl Hunter’s debut borrows heavily from the aesthetics of the films of wes Anderson. There’s a similar reverence for 1960s stylings, but the obvious homage is often to the film’s detriment. while the colourful and retro set design is pleasant, it’s short-changed by harsh lighting and odd framing. Further, Hunter’s desire to replicate Anderson’s idiosyncratic style becomes distracting, as the low-key (but charming) performances and dialogue don’t have the energy to match it. when it deviates from that style is when Sometimes Always Never is the best version of itself.
