Set on the cusp of the 19th century when India was in political turmoil, Beecham House is the story of the mysterious John Beecham, who buys a mansion on the outskirts of Delhi for his family – but why the move to India who is the child he’s brought with him?
WHO’S IN IT?
Tom Bateman (Vanity Fair) stars as Beecham – an ex-soldier and East India Company employee who’s strangely wealthy. Marc Warren (Hustle) plays his best friend Samuel, and period-drama veteran Lesley Nicol – Downton Abbey’s Mrs Patmore – is John’s mother.
WHO WROTE IT?
Beecham House has certainly got impeccable credentials: it’s writtten and directed by Gurinder Chada, writer/ director of Bend It Like Beckham, Bhaji On The Beach and, most recently, Bruce Springsteen-inspired film Blinded By The Light. JE
