Our lowdown on Larry David’s comedy classic where all the guest stars play themselves

SEASON 1

Larry David plays an even more misanthropic version of himself: the millionaire who co-created Seinfeld and lives in LA with his wife Cheryl (Cheryl Hines). He hangs out with his manager Jeff (Jeff Garlin), whose wife Susie (Susan Essman) hates Larry. He mainly plays golf and fucks things up.

SEASON 2

Larry has an idea for a sitcom about an actor who gets typecast after starring in an iconic sitcom. He approaches Seinfeld’s Jason Alexander, but pisses him off. He then turns to Julia Louis-dreyfus. She’s keen until Larry offends all the TV networks.

SEASON 3

Larry ’s asked by his pal Ted Danson to invest in a new restaurant. Larry also films a cameo in a Martin Scorsese movie.

SEASON 4

Mel Brooks casts Larry in his musical The Producers, along with Ben Stiller and David Schwimmer. Stiller quits due to Larry’s unprofessionalism but the show does go on.

SEASON 5

Larry’s friend Richard Lewis needs a new kidney. Larry does everything to avoid having to donate his.

SEASON 6

Cheryl convinces Larry to take in a homeless African-american family called the Blacks. Larry gets on surprisingly well with them, but Cheryl ends up leaving him.

SEASON 7

Desperate to get Cheryl back, Larry writes a Seinfeld reunion show with Jerry Seinfeld, just so Larry can cast Cheryl in a role.

SEASON 8

Cheryl and Larry divorce, and he takes a three-month sabbatical in New York with Jeff and Susie to avoid a charity gig in LA.

SEASON 9

While creating a musical called Fatwa! about the one placed on Slaman Rushdie, Larry gets a fatwa of his own. But the play goes ahead anyway, with Lin-manuel Miranda producing.
