DIRECTOR Drake Doremus CAST Shailene Woodley, Jamie Dornan, Sebastian Stan
Newly single Daphne (Shailene Woodley) meets Frank (Sebastian Stan, cropped beard) and Jack (Jamie Dornan, bushier beard) at the same New Year’s Eve party. She begins seeing them both — Frank is passionate but flaky; Jack is sensitive and attentive but bad in bed — a situation that becomes complicated when it’s revealed the two men are friends. Drake Doremus makes a successful return to his indie relationship wheelhouse (Like Crazy, Newness) here. It’s full of all his trademarks — unforced storytelling, dreamy visuals, montages to miserable pop music — and if the love triangle doesn’t entirely grip, it works better as a portrait of a woman trying to keep it together as her life falls apart, buoyed by an excellent Woodley.
