CAST Greta Thunberg, Svante Thunberg

A climate-change movement that shook the world began with a solitary act of defiance: 15-year-old Greta Thunberg sat outside Sweden’s parliament with a home-made sign, “School Strike For Climate”. Soon, young people across the globe would join her. From her earliest protests to her epic sea voyage to address the UN, documentary maker Nathan Grossman filmed every step, charting her development from lone schoolgirl protester to a powerful voice holding politicians to account. While the film captures Thunberg’s passion and determination, at times it treads an uncomfortable line between access and exploitation (such as when Thunberg breaks down in a private moment). It’s also a largely one-sided portrait too, a chronicle of Thunberg’s rise rather than a definitive exploration.
