Watching The Sixth Sense at AMC 7 on Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica, when a guy shouted (spoiler alert), “He’s already dead!!” a full ten minutes before the end, and everyone pissed themselves… That time at the Prince Charles when the guy in front of me fainted when Travis Bickle shot Sport in Taxi Driver... The sound of the woman behind me crying at the end of Paris, Texas in the Arts Cinema in Cambridge... My friend Tom dancing down the front during Stop Making Sense somewhere in London in the ’80s... And the applause of the packed house at the Odeon on George Street in Oxford when 007’s Union Jack parachute opened in The Spy Who Loved Me. I miss audiences.
