In high school all my friends went to the Ardmore Theater near my parents’ home and saw Fatal Attraction. It was packed. Against fire-code rules people were seated in the aisles. The place went insane when Glenn Close’s character appeared in the mirror and then again when she was killed. Roars. The theatre shook. At the end, the girl I liked who only saw me as a friend turned to me and said, “You need to make movies like that.”
