-

WHETHER A GRYFFINDOR, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff or Slytherin, Harry Potter fans should start getting ready for the ultimate Wizarding World test. No, don’t worry, it’s not a revival of the Triwizard Tournament — it’s The BIG Harry Potter Quiz, from Sky VIP, where people get incredible experiences and rewards just for being Sky customers. Created in collaboration with the Harry Potter Fan Club, it’s going to be an epic virtual trivia session hosted by Alex Zane with appearances from some very special guests — and with rounds including Spells & Potions, The Dark Arts and Quidditch, it’s sure to separate the Muggles from the magically gifted. There will be prizes. There will be surprises. There will be an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at a new feature at Warner Bros. Studio Tour London — The Making of Harry Potter.

The BIG Harry Potter Quiz takes place on Thursday 18 February at 7pm, so sign up on the My Sky app, get that perfect team name picked, and be sure to conjure up some crafty costumes — and if you need a refresher in the meantime, all eight Harry Potter movies are available to watch now on Sky Cinema until the end of February. No Pensieves, Auto-answer Quills or Remembralls allowed, okay?

Swotting up could even help you bag prizes including Hogwarts Gift Trunks, LEGO Harry Potter sets and Gold Membership to the Harry Potter Fan Club — so to get you warmed up in preparation for the quiz, Empire presents ten fun facts you might not know about the Harry Potter film series. Make like Hermione, and start your studies today.

1 In Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the Mirror of Erised has an inscription around its edge: “erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi” — which, backwards, reads “I show not your face but your heart’s desire”.

2 The production title for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets was ‘Incident On 57th Street’, named after the Bruce Springsteen song.

The rocker had written a song titled ‘I’ll Stand By You’ for the first film, but ultimately it wasn’t used.

3 Three full-size Buckbeak animatronics were built for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban — one with the Hippogriff standing, one sitting and one rearing up. Two can be seen at Warner Bros. Studio Tour London — The Making of Harry Potter.

4 In every single Harry Potter film, the Warner Bros. logo gets darker to foreshadow the themes of each movie getting darker too.

5 In Harry Potter and the Order of The Phoenix, Luna Lovegood is seen wearing the radishshaped earrings described in the book. Actor Evanna Lynch made them herself.

6 When the Room of Requirement appears as the Room of Hidden Things in Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince, a giant wizard’s chess piece and Fluffy’s harp from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone can be seen among the objects.

7 Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 1 sees Harry and Hermione visit the village of

Godric’s Hollow. This is not only where Harry’s parents lived, but is the birthplace of Godric Gryffindor, Albus Dumbledore’s hometown, and the home of magical historian Bathilda Bagshot. Grindelwald also stayed at Godric’s Hollow.

8 Harry’s former Quidditch captain Oliver Wood pops up in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows — Part 2. He can be seen flying into the Battle of Hogwarts, and actor Sean Biggerstaff — last seen in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets — returned for the role.

8 The Philosopher’s Stone was created by alchemist Nicolas Flamel — later played in Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald by Brontis Jodorowsky, son of filmmaker Alejandro.

10 The set used to house Fluffy and the trapdoor in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone was also used for the Potions classroom and Snape’s office in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets; look out for the domed ceiling.
