“I always keep it to hand-luggage. If I have an event, I bring a suit or tuxedo, but in general I pack lots of T-shirts and lots of denim. My shirts all have just four buttons on the front so they look like a polo, but when you wear them with a tie they look like a regular shirt, so you can wear them casual, and with a suit. I always pack two pairs of shoes: Nike running shoes and one pair of leather shoes, John Lobb or Crockett & Jones, and usually Chelsea or jodhpur boots. Then beige and blue knitwear, sunglasses — my own design, which are something between Sixties James Bond and a Ray-Ban Wayfarer — and I wear a scarf, especially on planes. I like block colours: burgundy, cobalt blue. I always carry a Contax 35mm film camera, a portable backgammon set, a MacBook Air, headphones and a Smythson notebook.”
