04 Go for a posh pub lunch
Fordwich, one of Britain’s smallest towns (with a population of around 400), has just gained a Michelin star thanks to award-winning former Clove Club chef Daniel Smith, his pastry-chef wife Natasha Norton-Smith and sommelier Guy Palmer-Brown. Why did they choose to bring fine dining to some backwater pub just outside Canterbury? Who cares? The Kent locale offers an idyllic country walk before or after eating. Complimentary amuse-bouches precede sumptuous plates like Sevenoaks venison with damson, the roaring fire, wood-panelling and dog-friendly vibe capping any winter weekend.
