New golf smartwatch sets players on course to win

-

Tag Heuer’s Connected Modular 45 “Golf Edition” is a rare novelty in a quiet year for luxury wearables. Following the introduction of its second generation Connected smartwatch in 2017, the Swiss giant now combines its drive for innovation with the world’s number one individual sport. The result is a wrist-worn caddy aimed squarely at amateur golfers.

Made from shock-resistant materials and featuring a 45mm scratch-resistant touchscreen, it pairs with the Tag Heuer Golf app on your phone — iOS and Android — giving you access to 3D maps of 39,000 courses worldwide and allowing you to calculate and record distance, keep score and collect performance stats. Features include displaying distances to greens and hazards, all accurate to within one metre. The app can also work out your putting average, longest drive and score distribution.

And since it’s a Connected smartwatch, the Golf app is only one of many apps and functions it will run: you can send messages, play music, receive notifications, etc. (It also opens up the tantalising possibility of future Connected watch “editions” for individual sports, events or occasions.) The black ceramic bezel ring is laser engraved with a scale of one to 18, indicating the holes in a round of golf. It comes on a white strap with — what else? — green stitching, plus the bonus of three golf balls stamped with the Tag Heuer logo included in the package. RS tagheuer.com
