GETTING THERE: The author flew on United Airline’s seasonal, non-stop flight from Heathrow to Denver and onwards on UA to Rapid City, continuing on a Delta flight, connecting over Minneapolis/St Paul, to Bismarck, where she picked up an Enterprise rental car for the around two-hour drive to Medora, returning to London via Denver on United. www.united.com

SEASONALITY: Many of the region’s outdoor attractions are closed during the late autumn and winter. Hotels are usually less expensive in the non-summer season.
