JAMES Knipe and fiancee Annie Harrison have very different passions. While mechanical engineer James loves everything about Formula One and Ferraris, ecologist Annie is passionate about the natural world. However, the pair have managed to combine their loves at 4B Eden Place in Aberdeen’s Rosemount. “The colour schemes in a lot of the rooms have an earthy feel and we have nature-inspired artwork because of what Annie does,” said James, a 27-year-old engineer for Xodus Group. “But for me, art is the beautiful cars of Ferrari and Formula One so I also have pictures of the cars and models in several rooms. I also managed to convince Annie to have a red feature wall in the bedroom.” The couple bought their first home together in July 2009 when James and PhD population ecology student Annie, 27, found exactly what they were looking for. James said: “We wanted to live in a convenient location with good access to the city centre but also in an area that wasn’t too noisy. “As an engineer, I appreciate quality, and the granite buildings in Aberdeen are well-constructed so I’d always wanted one of the Victorian flats. “When we came to view this flat it had both of those things – it’s on a no-through road in Rosemount and it’s over 100 years old.” If they weren’t sold already, the kitchen nailed it for them. James said: “Coming from the countryside, I like kitchens that cater for traditional cooking.
