KATI McIlwraith loved her sister’s home so much – she ended up buying it. Kati, 39, who is studying Social Sciences at Aberdeen College, said: “My sister and husband bought this property as a new-build 13 years ago. “I’d always known it was a sound house and it worked out they were looking to upgrade round about the time I discovered I was pregnant.”

“Rear garden is suntrap”

Kati moved in the month before she gave birth to her son Harry McLeod who is now eight. “The house ticked all the right boxes for me as it has two parks close by, and it sits at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac,” she said. “It was very important for me to make sure Harry could play safely outside.” As well as decorating, Kati has installed an attractive dining kitchen which is on open plan with the L-shaped lounge. The spacious kitchen has a breakfast bar area making it ideal for informal dining – or for when mum and son are both doing their homework. The lounge is bright and airy thanks to a large picture window and also downstairs there is a cloakroom in the hall with a two-piece suite. Upstairs, there are two good-sized double bedrooms a single room and a three-piece family bathroom. Kati’s rear garden is a real suntrap and has a well used vegetable patch. Kati is looking for a new home in Inverurie where Harry can carry on with his guitar, swimming, drama and judo lessons.

GOODBYE: Kati McIlwraith and eight-year-old son Harry.

OUTSIDE: The rear garden has its own vegetable plot.
