At­trac­tive home with a hid­den gar­den oa­sis.

AF­TER 30 years of liv­ing in Dee­side, Au­drey and Bill Leiper were ready for a change. They loved bring­ing up their fam­ily in Bield­side and Mill­tim­ber, but the lim­i­ta­tions of liv­ing out­side of the city be­gan to grate on the cou­ple around six years ago. And they man­aged to find the best of both worlds at 15 Kings Gate, Aberdeen. “We were ready for the con­ve­nience of liv­ing in the city as we were fed up with tak­ing a car ev­ery­where,” said Au­drey, a 61-year-old re­tired teacher. “As well as some­where cen­tral so we could walk ev­ery­where, we wanted some­where quiet too. “When we found 15 Kings Gate we were de­lighted as its lo­ca­tion is handy for Rose­mount and town – and, once in­side, it’s very peace­ful.” When Au­drey and Bill, a 64-year-old re­tired fish mer­chant, came to view the prop­erty, they found the tra­di­tional town house very im­pos­ing from the out­side. How­ever, the con­trast with the in­side as­tounded them. Au­drey said: “From the im­pos­ing tra­di­tional build­ing and hall­way, the flat it­self was mod­ern and light which gave it a nice at­mos­phere.” And be­cause the pre­vi­ous owner had ren­o­vated the prop­erty, it just needed their per­sonal stamp. An­other wel­come sur­prise was the idyl­lic gar­den hid­den from pub­lic view at the rear. “Through the French win­dows in the lounge and bed­room is a beau­ti­ful gar­den you’d never know about it,” said Au­drey. “It was one of the main rea­sons we bought the
