Bel­gian brothers set to show ‘mashup’ skills

ONE of the world’s most fa­mous DJ-ing duos are set to play The Fo­rum on Sun­day. The star at­trac­tion is 2 Many DJs – David and Stephen De­waele. The Bel­gian brothers who are fa­mous for a num­ber of their al­ter-egos. Their al­ter­na­tive rock/elec­tronic band is called Soul­wax, but they are best known for their mashups un­der the names the Fly­ing De­waele Brothers and 2 Many DJs. As Soul­wax, they’ve re­leased many a land­mark record in­clud­ing Leave the Story Un­told (1996), Much Against Ev­ery­one’s Ad­vice (1999) and Any Minute Now (2004). But it’s their se­ries of 2 Many DJs al­bums – ti­tled As Heard On Ra­dio Soul­wax – that have pro­pelled them to star­dom and world­wide recog­ni­tion. They were be­hind the fa­mous mashup of Kylie’s Can’t Get You Out Of My Head and New Or­der’s Blue Mon­day. And the al­bums fea­ture their take on clas­sic tracks from Peaches to Dolly Par­ton and Base­ment Jaxx Their an­thems have been a sound­track to the last decade.
