Rapid-fire gags and silly ditties

Evening Express (City Final) - The Guide - - WHAT'S ON -

THERE’S a danger that Tim Vine’s rapid-fire oneliners would become a bit monotonous stretched to a fulllength show. But fortunately the funnyman, who has an almost Rain Man-like ability to remember his hundreds of gags, interspersed silly, nonsensical songs throughout the show so it wasn’t quite so relentless. The gleefully random “Is it a torch or is it a banana?” ditty was a particular favourite. That said, the sheer volume of punchlines meant you had to keep up. As your brain was trying work out a piece of clever wordplay, he was already halfway through his next joke. But if your biggest complaint about a comedy gig is that there’s too many punchlines, that’s not really a complaint at all, is it?

QUICK WIT: Tim Vine.
