Evening Express (City Final) - The Guide - - ARTS AND STAGE -

BOYS and girls, start your engines and get ready for the fast lane – Roary The Racing Car zooms into Aberdeen this weekend. Champion Of Champions, the stage version of the hugely popular pre-school TV series, will be off to a racing start at the P&J Arena at the AECC on Saturday. As well as Roary and his many loveable four-wheeled friends, the show will feature racing legend Sir Stirling Moss as the narrator, with the much-loved voice of motorsport’s Murray Walker providing commentary. Murray, pictured, said: “This is the first time that some of the characters will make a public appearance. “I am delighted to be part of this new stage show. “It is a lot of fun for all the family. “Anything can happen in Roary The Racing Car – and usually does.” The plot revolves around Roary battling it out with Maxi, Cici and all the other cars to win the big race. And Farmer Green has come up with some new bio-fuel to make sure the big event is the fastest and greenest ever. But, as always, things don’t run smoothly – on the racetrack or off. Since first hitting the TV in 2007, Roary has become a firm favourite with little ones. But it’s not just about introducing kids to motorsports – the show also aims to teach the importance of friendship, teamwork, problem solving and road safety.
