A MAN was taken to ARI after being rescued from water at a city park.

A MAN had to be rescued by emergency teams after becoming trapped in a “swamp” at a popular Aberdeen park. A member of the public heard the man, who was in his 40s, struggling to escape the wetlands in Seaton Park and alerted police, fire and ambulance crews. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent two appliances to the scene, along with a boat – which was never launched. A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “It appears to have been a swampy area of ground. “Two appliances and a boat were called to an incident at Seaton Park at 10.34pm yesterday after reports of a male stuck in long wet grass. “Only one unit remained on scene, and provided lighting for the ambulance crew who rescued the man.” A spokeswoman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 10.47pm on Monday to attend an incident at Seaton Park in Aberdeen. “An ambulance was dispatched to the scene and one male patient was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.” The specialist operations team from the ambulance service helped in the rescue. The team, which has training to deal with situations like water rescues, is equipped with gear not carried by other ambulance crews. A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “We got a call on 10.10pm last night reporting concern for a man who had fallen into water within Seaton Park. “He was taken to ARI to be checked over.”
