Crews called to barn blaze

MORE than 30 fire­fight­ers were called to bat­tle a blaze at a north-east farm. Around 33 fire­fight­ers from the Scot­tish Fire and Res­cue Ser­vice were alerted to a barn on fire, ap­prox­i­mately two miles west of Fraser­burgh, just off the A98, at 5pm yes­ter­day. Six ap­pli­ances were sent to the scene along with a spe­cial­ist wa­ter car­rier to get the fire un­der con­trol. Crews used four sets of breath­ing ap­pa­ra­tus and two hose reel jets to put out the flames, which was com­plete at 6.45pm. The blaze does not ap­pear to be sus­pi­cious, but the cause has not yet been de­ter­mined. A spokesman for the Scot­tish Fire and Res­cue Ser­vice said: “We re­ceived the call at 5pm, re­port­ing a barn on fire near Fraser­burgh. The fire was ex­tin­guished at around 6.45pm, but our crews re­mained on the scene for a short time. “As of right now, there do not ap­pear to be any sus­pi­cious cir­cum­stances.” Po­lice Scot­land was in at­ten­dance, after be­ing alerted to the blaze by the fire ser­vice. A po­lice spokesman said: “Ev­ery­one at the scene was present and ac­counted for, and there do not ap­pear to be any in­juries to live­stock.”
