PART of a north-east road was forced to close today following a three-car crash. Police Scotland was called to the incident on the A96 Aberdeen to Inverurie road, near Blackburn, at 6.28am. One of the cars, a grey Ford, was blocking a lane of the route, forcing police to close the stretch to allow for recovery of the vehicle. The crash caused major tailbacks for commuters this morning, with queues stretching to around two miles. A police spokeswoman said: “We were called to a three-vehicle RTC. One of the vehicles was blocking a lane. There are no reports of any injuries. “The road was fully reopened at 8.58am.” Meanwhile, a double-decker bus and a car also crashed on a busy Aberdeen road. The collision happened on North Deeside Road at its junction with Cults Avenue. It involved a Toyota Yaris and a double-decker First bus. A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “We got the call at 7.35am and there were no reports of injuries. “The drivers are OK, but an ambulance was called as precaution.” Officers had advised drivers to “avoid the area and consider an alternative route where possible”. The road was reopened at 9.35am. David Phillips, operations director for First Bus Aberdeen, said: “I can confirm that our number 19 service was involved in a collision this morning at School Road. No injuries were sustained by our driver or passengers, and an investigation has been launched into the cause of the incident.”
