A WEATHER warning for “very strong winds” has been issued for the whole of the north-east. The Met Office said inland gusts of up to 60-70mph, with gusts of 80mph in exposed locations, are expected to hit the region between 3am and 11.59pm on Friday. Forecasters said: “A weather system will move eastwards across the UK on Friday bringing widespread gales. “Inland gusts of 60-70mph are possible with gusts of 80mph in exposed locations in Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England. “There remains some uncertainty in the track of this system and where the strongest winds will occur.” The experts added: “Heavy rainfall may be an additional hazard across parts of northern and western Scotland. “The warning may change slightly over the coming days.”
