A WOMAN was today fighting for her life after a horrific two-vehicle crash on a rural road. Two trapped motorists were cut free from the wreckage of their vehicles last night on the A93 Aberdeen to Braemar road. Emergency services were called to the scene of the collision, about a half-a-mile west of the village of Kincardine O’neil, shortly after 5pm. The collision involved a blue Suzuki Swift car and a white Renault Kangoo van. The 52-year-old woman driving the Suzuki remains in a critical condition. Two appliances from the fire service were sent to free the man and woman from their vehicles. The drivers of both vehicles were taken by ambulance to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with serious injuries. Motorists were diverted away from the area and the road was closed until midnight between the junction with the B993 and Dess Wood road. Councillor Peter Argyle, who represents the area, said the stretch of road could be particularly dangerous during colder spells. He said: “The A93 does pass through a number of bends with overhanging trees on each side of the road and the turns are fairly tight when leaving Kincardine O’neil. My thoughts go out to those involved. “It is always awful to hear of an accident and I hope those injured make a full recovery.” Both cars were extensively damaged in the collision, with the front end of one of the vehicles left completely caved in. Police Scotland have now launched an investigation into the cause of the crash. Sergeant Peter Henderson, from the road policing department, said: “Our thoughts at this time are with those involved and their families. “An investigation into the collision is under way and we have already spoken to a number of witnesses. “In order to help establish the cause of the collision I would urge anyone who saw either vehicle prior to the collision or the collision itself and who has not already come forward to get in touch. “Likewise if any motorists believe they may have dashcam footage which could assist our inquiries I appeal to them to come forward. “Anyone with information can contact Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 in confidence, quoting incident number PS-20181105-2500.”
