Car ablaze on new Aberdeen by­pass

FIRE crews were called to a car on fire on the out­skirts of Aberdeen. Two ap­pli­ances from the North An­der­son Drive sta­tion were sent to the AWPR be­tween Tim­ber­mill and Stone­haven. No in­juries were re­ported in the blaze, which the Scot­tish Fire and Res­cue Ser­vice were alerted to at 10.57am yes­ter­day. Po­lice Scot­land were also called to the scene, with the road closed for a “short pe­riod”, ac­cord­ing to a spokesman. He also said that the fire, which was well-alight, was be­lieved to have been caused by an “elec­tri­cal fault”. He added: “We were alerted to the fire, and sent units to the scene to as­sist the fire ser­vice.” A spokesman for the Scot­tish Fire and Res­cue Ser­vice said: “We sent two ap­pli­ances from North An­der­son Drive to the scene, af­ter re­ceiv­ing the call at 10.57am. The crews used a hose reel jet and a breath­ing ap­pa­ra­tus. “The fire was ex­tin­guished at around 11.18am, and our crews left shortly af­ter.”
