New step in plan for academy

Evening Express (Extra Edition) - - MEMORIES -

A CAMPAIGN has been launched to save a village hall from closure.

Logie Durno Hall faces being shut for the second time in five years through a lack of helpers.

Residents are to be asked what they are looking for from the hall following a successful extraordinary general meeting. PLANS for a new Aberdeenshire secondary school have taken a step forward.

Work on the £25 million replacement for Mearns Academy at Laurencekirk is scheduled to start next year.

Kincardine and Mearns area committee was briefed by officials on the latest design, costs and provision of community facilities for the 840-pupil school.
