Congestion fears as road set to close

A ROAD at the congested Aberdeen Royal Infirmary site is set to close for up to six weeks – sparking traffic fears. The stretch of private road off Forresterhill Road is closing on Wednesday for the installation of a boiler. It is a part of work on the Foresterhill Energy Centre, which will provide renewable power to the ARI complex. But the long closure has raised fears of traffic woes as Foresterhill has long-standing parking problems. Rosemount councillor Bill Cormie said: “There has always been a degree of confusion because it is not a council road.” An NHS Grampian spokeswoman said: “The road which will be closing is the loop road round the periphery of the main car park. “Staff and visitors will still have entrance and exit access via Forresterhill Road. Terry Macleod, of the city council’s roadworks co-ordination team said: “An alternative route for access is available via the north junction with Forresterhill Road.”
