Ap­peal for younger vol­un­teers

YOUNG men from the North-east are be­ing urged to sign up and help in the fight to beat leukaemia.

Aberdeen South MP Anne Begg is urg­ing men aged 18 to 30 to sign up to the An­thony Nolan stem cell reg­is­ter.

The char­ity finds donors of bon mar­row to help peo­ple suf­fer­ing from blood cancer.

There is a short­age of young male donors who, de­spite mak­ing up just 19% of the reg­is­ter ac­count for 80% of do­na­tions.

The Labour MP said: “I am sup­port­ing An­thony Nolan in re­cruit­ing more donors as this wor­thy cause can save lives.”
