ONCE considered the venue of choice for dangerous liaisons, Soho restaurant Kettner’s has relaunched as Kettner’s Townhouse, with home inspiration at every turn. There to celebrate were Fawn and India Rose James, below, of Soho Estates.
Under the Soho House helm, with a twist, it is a gloriously decadent break from the cosy members club model. The Georgian building, where Oscar Wilde had illicit assignations and the future King Edward VII was said to have wooed Lillie Langtry, now houses 33 bedrooms, a restaurant and a champagne bar.
The original spiral staircase leads to the en suite rooms with their wooden floors, Georgian fireplaces, heritage windows and vintage chandeliers. An art collection is inspired by the buildings’ rumoured reputation for affairs, with installations by Danny Augustine and Sara J Beazley. Visit kettnerstownhouse.com to book.
