Townsend first welcomed customers at the start of the year but was quickly forced to shut with the arrival of the coronaviru­s, at which point it quickly pivoted to a hugely popular Town-Send delivery service. Based at Aldgate’s historic Whitechape­l Gallery and the brainchild of Nick Gilkinson (ex Anglo and Garden Café) and head chef Joe Fox (Petersham Nurseries), the dining room serves up an ever-evolving menu of creative British plates with fresh, seasonal ingredient­s at its heart. This month sees the team launch a series of one-night-only menu collaborat­ions with the likes of Manteca’s Chris Leach and Rita’s Gabriel Pryce. We can’t wait. Tickets £36 (resy.com)
