MIGHT GET MESSI

From Leo to DJ Khaled, it’s the battle of the celeb-endorsed eats

-

Forget about branded rosé and bedazzled bed linen, there’s a new celebrity flex in town: fast food. But as the fare of those with next to no experience in professional kitchens, is such a meal worth the cash, calories and cluster of spots now gathered around my jawline? DJ Khaled (above) has won The Key to my heart. Another Wing on Deliveroo is the latest extension of the musician’s plan for world domination, offering up appropriately boujie spins on chicken-shop staples including succulent, sticky wings in an array of Major Key marinades such as the tangy They Don’t Want You to Win Sriracha, plus decadent Truffle Parm Winning Waffle Fries. Likewise, Tinie Tempah’s Raps had its success Written in the Stars. Available for delivery and at Willows on The Roof in John Lewis, Oxford Street, the fairly healthy menu of wraps (get it?), fried chicken and salads, developed with Kitchen Ventures and Big Has, is enough to make one Pass Out in bliss. Highlights include the palette-cleansing onion, chilli, pineapple and dill slaw and the wake-me-up pineapple hot sauce. Sadly, Lionel Messi’s beefburger — a tower of two smash patties reminiscent of his old boots (I imagine), a dubious ‘Spanish-style chorizo’ and an anaemic slice of tomato — at Hard Rock Cafe is some way off GOAT territory. Meanwhile, fellow athlete Lewis Hamilton’s vegan, sustainably minded Neat Burger follows its founder’s winning mentality, with a plant-based ‘cheeseburger’ that’s as satisfying as a McDonald’s double on the way home from a big ’un, and fried balls of mash (tater tots) to pop till you drop. For pudding? Snoop Dogg’s Peaches N Cream. We hope.
