One of London’s most in-demand hairdressers and the proud owner of his namesake salon on Spitalfields’ Fournier Street, Adam Reed describes his latest endeavour as ‘genderful headcare’. ‘Inclusivity is key,’ he explains. ‘This range encapsulates everyone.’

The concept for universal products for all genders and hair types originated from Reed’s desire to make a meaningful change to how we feel physically and mentally. An advocate for the open discussion of mental health and the power of self-care to influence well-being, he offered NHS staff free appointments during the pandemic, ensuring moments of restorative calm in their day.

‘Arkive is about caring for your head, both in terms of what is on it and inside it.

Excellent formulations and performance are key — and we have delivered both — but I want to highlight how ritualising day-to-day practicalities like hair washing can make an enormous difference to how we feel.’

The 11-part line has all you need for healthy hair, from shampoo and conditioner to a mask, scalp scrub and styling products, while Boots was picked as distributor, ensuring wide availability at an affordable price point.

A keen perfume collector and long-time believer in the transporting power of the olfactory, Reed briefed no less than eight fragrance houses to scent the spirit-lifting range. The result? ‘Future Bloom’, a sunny day of a scent, with white florals and mandarin, and our personal favourite, ‘No One Elsie’, a zingy, soul-boosting blend of tomato leaf and rhubarb inspired by Reed’s Somerset roots.
