THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO ALESSANDRO MICHELE
As Londoners flee summer in the city for Sicilian shores, Italy seems to be coming to… us? In the past month we’ve had confirmation of a Harry Styles x Gucci collaboration; there have been logoed corgis courtesy of the Gucci Pet Collection; an Adidas x Gucci collab that took Peckham by storm; and last week we saw Tom Ford’s former Mayfair Gucci HQ go on the market for £55 million. The last piece of the G-shaped puzzle? For creative director Alessandro Michele to arrive in London himself, as he will on Monday for a special talk at the V&A. In conversation with fashion journalist Alexander Fury, Michele will look back on his career thus far and his redefinition of the Gucci aesthetic. This follows the house’s support of the V&A’s current Fashioning Masculinities: The Art of Menswear exhibition, which celebrates the complexity, power and diversity of modern menswear. With an abundance of plate spinning, it’s rare that Michele gets a chance like this to reflect on the impact he has had. Attend the talk in person or watch online… just don’t blink in case you miss news on the next Gucci collab.
