The book of Genesis says people were made out of clay, while Jim Morrison declared ‘People are strange’. Plonk these two thoughts together and you get the gist of the Hayward Gallery’s upcoming exhibition, Strange Clay. Come for the big names — Grayson Perry, Betty Woodman, Lindsey Mendick — but stay for the entirely wacky stars, squids, clocks, cocks and a variety of shapes that are difficult to describe with words.
