MR PORTER’S STARS OF THE FUTURE
This week marks the culmination of the luxury e-tailer’s inaugural mentorship programme, Mr Porter Futures. Conceived in partnership with Klarna, it sees three new-gen designers create collections for a global stage. There’s Manaaki, a label conceived by New Zealander Kat Tua, who draws inspiration from both her Māori heritage and 1970s denim; Manchester’s Saif Ud Deen, whose namesake brand melds traditional Islamic dress with contemporary silhouettes; and Miles Leon, founded by Ryan Edmonds and Julian Canda, who look to the nature around Portland, Oregon, to create elevated-yet-functional menswear staples. Covering costs for two fashion seasons, and with 50 per cent of net profits going to the designers, this is an investment in fashion’s future that’s well worth everyone making. Mr Porter Futures is available to shop now at mrporter.com. Visit the pop-up store in Coal Drops Yard, Unit 70/71, from 11-13 Nov
