More than 400 years ago, William Shakespeare wrote this: ‘A tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.’ Perhaps only now in 2022 do we truly understand those famous words: they are about modern job titles. Actually, the level of both tragedy and comedy going into job titles puts Shakespeare to shame. ‘Global Head of Systems Operations’. ‘Executive Assistant to the Deputy Chief Officer’. None of them means anything, but they sure do reveal a lot about the person who wants them and the organisation that gives them. So here are some of our current favourite (all real) meaningless job titles…
