In Nine Elms, my borough is creating tens of thousands of jobs and other opportunities that will be right on the doorsteps of many residents of Westminster. When Councillor Murad Gassanly dismisses a bridge between Pimlico and Nine Elms, he is kicking ladders of opportunities further away from his residents. All this is a bit like Passport to Pimlico. Councillor Nicola Nardelli, Queenstown Ward, Wandsworth If the recommendations of the housing review by Sir Michael Lyons are implemented we have a fighting chance of dealing with the housing crisis. We must look beyond the short-term politicisation of such a critical issue and deal with boosting the housing supply with wide-ranging action that goes beyond the manifesto soundbites. James Fennell, managing director, Nathaniel Lichfield & Partners Just noticed your article [Motoring, April 16] promoting a portable music player for camping. Just what the average campsite needs: idiots blasting out stupid loud music all hours. What a thoroughly irresponsible plug. How much is Fugoo paying you?
JC Your gifted op-ed columnists, Urwin, Godwin and Leith, produce witty and at times courageous copy without any genuflection to economic or political power. But the preceding news section apparently cannot suppress its desire to talk up the Tories on all occasions. Wouldn’t it be more intellectually expedient to handle this election in a more even-handed way?
Professor Sue Broadhurst & Neil Harvey I totally agree with your letter of April 16. The role of SENs as a category of nurse was invaluable throughout our hospitals. They fulfilled many roles that, if carried out today, would enable the modern nurse to perform the role for which they’ve been highly trained.
Iris Ritchie Jamie, rather than criticising Labour for delivering election literature to businesses in Westminster [Letters, April 16], you should applaud it for ensuring voters have the chance to read it. Redirect your ridicule to Westminster council, which is turning the area into an upper-class ghetto where workers can’t afford to live.
Andrew Dame Angela Lansbury is not the only other woman, apart from Imelda Staunton, to have played Momma Rose in Gypsy on the London stage. Dolores Gray took over after Lansbury. I was the sound engineer.
