Bennett and Gaga could reschedule London show cancelled in health scare
SINGER Tony Bennett could return to London to perform with Lady Gaga after their Royal Albert Hall show was cancelled due to a health scare.
The US stars had been due to perform the second of t wo sold- out shows together last night but it was called off after Bennett fell ill with flu.
A source today said the show could be rescheduled, and they are trying to work out if it is possible. Disappointed fans were told to hold on to their tickets “pending more information”.
Some reports suggested Bennett, 88, may have had a heart attack but a spokeswoman denied the claims.
Gaga, 29, who gave an impromptu performance at Ronnie Scott’s last night, tried to reassure fans, tweeting: “Hey everybody! Don’t worry about Tony, he’s ok! That’s just showbiz some- times. We’ll catch u next time!” Bennett wrote: “Sorry to not be singing in London tonight. I love my fans in the UK and appreciate all the well wishes to get over this flu quickly.”
Wearing a fishnet bodysuit, Gaga performed a 30-minute set at Ronnie’s Late Late Show — including a rendition of Bang Bang lying on the piano.
A statement from the artists said: “Live Nation has confirmed the performance by Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga scheduled for this evening at the Royal Albert Hall is not taking place.
“Unfortunately, Tony Bennett has come down with a flu virus which has prevented him from performing the second of two shows in London.
“Ticket holders are instructed to retain their tickets pending more information. Fans who have purchased tickets online will be notified ... as soon as additional information is available.”
