New warning of Calais ‘standstill’
BRITISH lorry drivers and holidaymakers faced a third week of crippling cross-Channel strikes today as illegal migrants continued to take advantage of the chaos.
French trade union boss Eric Vercoutre said he and his comrades were ready to bring Calais “to a standstill” again in a bid to save up to 600 jobs. If t alks break down tomorrow, then industrial action would start again. UK haulage leaders spoke of “marauding mobs” threatening drivers who try to get the migrants off their lorries.
