CHELSEA PUT £67M LIMIT ON LUKAKU

BLUES HOPE TALKS WITH EVERTON THIS WEEK WILL LEAD TO DROP IN £75M PRICE

CHELSEA are locked in negotiations with Everton for Romelu Lukaku with the clubs £8million apart in valuations.

Standard Sport revealed in April Lukaku wants to return to Stamford Bridge two years after he was sold for £28m because he believes he has “unfinished business” .

Chelsea have had a bid of £57m r e j e c t e d b y E v e r t o n , wh o are demanding £75m.

The Blues hope Everton will agree a compromise as they are only willing to pay up to £67m.

Talks are set to continue this week and Chelsea aim to get the deal done before the season starts.

Lukaku is keen on moving back to west London despite the way he was treated after joining them from Anderlecht for £18m in 2011.

The 23-year-old Belgium international made just one League start in three years and went on loan to West Brom and Everton.

Lukaku has scored 45 goals since his permanent move to Goodison Park in 2014 and Chelsea want him back to lead the line alongside Diego Costa having given up on their other main target, Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata.

Chelsea continue to insist Diego Costa is not for sale even though his future at the club appeared in jeopardy again after Antonio Conte admitted on Saturday he did not know if the Spain international would remain.

The head coach’s remarks followed the 3-2 defeat to Real Madrid, the second consecutive game Costa had missed on the pre-season tour due to a minor back injury.

Costa has been a target of Atletico Madrid throughout the close season and have upset Chelsea with their continued pursuit.
