World Cup big guns preparing for the final push

QUALIFICAT­ION for next year’s World Cup will become a lot clearer this week. Eight of the final 32 nations have already qualified and these are the issues that could be decided.

will be safely through to Russia 2018 if they beat Slovenia at Wembley tonight or if they draw and Slovakia fail to beat Scotland.

A draw will be good enough for holders against Northern Ireland in Belfast. qualify if they beat Armenia and Denmark draw against Montenegro.

will make it if they beat Austria tomorrow night, or if they draw and Wales and the Republic of Ireland fail to win their matches against Georgia and Moldova respective­ly. They will also be through if Wales lose and Ireland fail to win.

who take on Albania, will go through if they better Italy’s result against Macedonia. On Saturday,

will make it if they beat Bulgaria and Sweden lose to Luxembourg. only need a point against Hungary if Andorra shock Portugal.

need only a point against Guinea on Saturday if DR Congo fail to beat Libya. will be through if they beat Zambia on the same day. On Sunday, will make it if they beat Congo Republic and Uganda fail to match their result against Ghana.

will qualify with a point or more against Honduras on Saturday. will make it if they beat the United States and Honduras lose to Costa Rica.

Syria and Australia face off over two legs in the coming week for the right to reach next month’s inter-continenta­l play-offs.
