Sadiq stays at No 1 in list of UK’s leading Asian influencer­s

Mum joins Chloe and her ‘felon’

MODEL Jeremy Meeks, dubbed the “hot felon” after his police mugshot became an online sensation, and Topshop heiress Chloe Green were joined by her billionair­e mother Tina, left, on the red carpet in Hollywood. Wembley-born Riz Ahmed, the first actor of Asian descent to win an acting Emmy — for his role in HBO series The Night Of — shot up more than 50 places to fourth.

One Direction star Zayn Malik, Bake Off winner and TV presenter Nadiya Hussain and model Neelam Gi l l also made the list, which reveals a shift from the traditiona­l rollcall of male indus- trialists to celebrate the role of Asian women in politics, law and the arts. Nobel Prize winner and president of the Royal Society Sir Venkatrama­n Ramakrishn­an was named at No 5.

A new entry was Brexit campaigner Gina Miller, who joins the list at 26. Actor Dev Patel was the biggest mover on the list, up 61 places to 21.

The Power List, compiled by Asian Media Group, is now in its seventh year. Politic ians remain the most influentia­l, with London Mayor Mr Khan in first place for the second year.
