Capoue keen on extending his ‘adventure’ with Watford
ETIENNE CAPOUE wants to commit his long-term future to Watford by earning a new contract.
The midfielder joined from Tottenham for a club-record fee of £6.3million in 2015 and feels settled at Vicarage Road.
“I want to stay here, I feel good at the club,” said the 29-year-old France international (below), who has just under two years of his deal left to run.
“It is up to me. If I’m doing well on the pitch, I will stay here. If I’m not good and someone plays in my place, maybe they will put me out. This is football but I want to remain at Watford.
“I have a very good relationship with the president [owner Gino Pozzo]. They have put me in the best condition to show my football, I feel grateful.
“Of course, I want to carry on this Watford adventure. There is a very good goal here, a big project here.
“They [the Pozzos] don’t go anywhere for nothing, when they do something it is for a reason. I like it. I feel there is a structure. It is good to keep going forward.”
Capoue has made just five appearances in the top flight this season, as coach Marco Silva has guided the team to fourth in the Premier League.
Silva, however, sees Capoue as a key member of his squad. “When Capoue plays, he brings a different style,” said Silva.
“He can play as a No8 or behind the striker. Every time I call him to play, he gives a good answer.”
