Porn star sues Trump over ‘hush agreement’ on affair allegations

- Kiran Randhawa

A PORN star who says she was paid to keep quiet about her alleged affair with Donald Trump is suing the president, claiming a non-disclosure agreement is invalid.

Stormy Daniels signed the agreement, which prevented her from discussing the alleged sexual encounters, days before the 2016 election.

But the lawsuit alleges it is “null and void and of no consequence” as Mr Trump did not personally sign it.

The actress, real name Stephanie Clifford, claims that she was asked to sign the non-disclosure agreement and was paid $130,000 (£93,000).

Ms Clifford says she began an “intimate relationship” with Mr Trump in 2006 which continued “well into the year 2007”. Mr Trump married his third wife, Melania, in 2005.

Ms Clifford and Mr Trump’s attorney, Michael Cohen, signed the nondisclosure agreement on October 28 2016. Mr Cohen has said he paid the porn actress out of his own pocket as part of the agreement and “neither the Trump Organisation nor the Trump campaign was a party to the transaction with Ms Clifford and neither reimbursed me for the payment, either directly or indirectly”.

The lawsuit filed in Los Angeles county superior court calls the “hush agreement” legally invalid because it was only signed by Ms Clifford and Mr Cohen and says “attempts to intimidate Ms Clifford into silence” continue.

The White House has not commented on the lawsuit but Trump has previously denied an affair.
